EEN KEER OM DIE SON SEASON 2
Lienke Vermeulen
The Van Wyk family will return to screens for another emotional journey when the second season of the popular kykNET drama series Een Keer om die son premieres on Tuesday, 20 January 2026.
As with the first season, the story once again begins on New Year’s Day—but this time, the Van Wyks are not together to celebrate. Life has moved on, and each family member is navigating their own challenges. Over the course of the next twelve months, the series explores deeply human themes such as acceptance, second chances, addiction, life-altering medical crises, and each character’s search for their place within the family circle.
Season two is written by Ivan Botha, Donnalee Roberts, Liani Jansen van Rensburg, Marista van Eeden and Almero Welgemoed. The series is produced by Ivan Botha, Donnalee Roberts and Danie Bester, with Botha also returning as director.
According to Donnalee Roberts, defining the emotional core of the new season was a crucial part of the creative process. “An important starting point for us was deciding what the heart of the second season should be—what message and feeling we want viewers to be left with after each episode and after the series,” she says. “It always came back to one word: hope.”
She adds that the story is rooted in the belief that no matter how often one stumbles, there is always the possibility of renewal. “People need to realize that in this life—no matter how dark times feel—there is always hope for getting up, for a second chance. The sun will always shine again.”
Our actress, Lienke Vermeulen, returns as Abigail, reprising her role in the evolving family drama.
Season two of Een Keer om die son airs Tuesdays from 20 January on kykNET (DStv channel 144) and DStv Stream, with episodes available on Catch Up after broadcast. Viewers who missed the first season can stream it now on Showmax.
