The Silwerskerm festival has proven to be an important platform for both established and upcoming filmmakers. 

The Silwerskerm festival not only showcases the premiers of the latest feature films, but also supports young and upcoming filmmakers with a range of diverse short films produced with financial support and mentorship.

This year holds another jam-packed program including panel-discussions, workshops and industry masterclasses hosted by local and international experts in their various fields.

This year the Silwerskerm festival includes two new initiatives, including “Shotgun-shortfilms” and the expansion of the “Silwermark”. 

The Shotgun-shortfilms are aimed at experienced filmmakers aimed at to move the audience and to inspire upcoming talent, while the Silwermark offers the opportunity for in-person submissions to both KykNET and Showmax for in a variety of Afrikaans content categories.

This year, three of our actors can be seen in films showcased at this years Silwerskermfees :

Caleb Felix can be seen in the Shotgun-shortfilm, Deuntjie, a comedy-musical.

Devonecia Swarts can be seen in the Shortfilm, Die Skynwerper, a psychological thriller.

Christy Morcos can be seen in the Feature Film, Gebokste Liefde, a romantic comedy.

The 12th Silwerskerm festival will be held 28-31 August 2024.
