With the well-loved telenovela, “Arendsvlei”, coming to an end ‘Skemergrond’ will be the new telenovela replacing the “Arendsvlei”-gap in viewers’ hearts and TV Schedules.

It will be gone but not forgotten because numerous Arendsvlei actors’ headline Skemergrond, alongside a medley of 7de Laan stalwarts stirred with newcomers.

KykNET’s latest telenovela, Skemergrond’ will be premiering on 1 July at 19:30 on kykNET&kie (DSTV Channel 145) from Mondays to Thursdays and takes place in the fictional Western Cape town of Gemoedsdrif.

Skemergrond revolves around the Louw family, who are well known for their flower farm, located in Gemoedsdrif, a symbol of their hard work and dedication to what they cherish most. 

The series opens with the delivery of a letter that leads to events that will irrevocably change their life and underneath the surface of the picturesque façade lies a web of lies and secrets that’s threatening to tear the family apart. 

The producers of Skemergrond, Roberta Durrant and Penguin Films, are known for their popular and awarded series, such as Madam & Eve, Fishy Fêshuns, Projek Dina, Diepe Waters and of course Arendsvlei. 

Our very own Devonecia Swartz can be seen in the role of Christine Atkins, a successful business owner in Cape Town. She owns an events company Atkins Affairs and is looking for answers, which leads her to Gemoedsdrif.
